”Today is a significant day in our region; the construction of 44 family houses of the Lori region disaster zone is launching. We are currently in Lernapat community, near the unfinished building belonging to one of the project beneficiaries. We are confident that our partner, Fuller Center for Housing Armenia, which has undertaken the construction of these houses, will complete the construction with high quality within the period of time stipulated by the contract signed with the beneficiary families. I congratulate the beneficiary families and all of us on this important project launch,” said Lori Region Governor Andrey Ghukasyan.
For the implementation of the project the RA Government is partnering with the Fuller Center for Housing Armenia Charitable Non-Governmental Organization.
“We are given the opportunity to implement this project for families who have suffered for decades. The peculiarity of our program is that the families build their homes themselves, and I am convinced that this is the most effective way that gives the family more than a house,” said Ashot Yeghiazaryan, President of the Fuller Center for Housing.
”My son, Arkadi was 2-month-old when the earthquake occurred. Now he is an adult man, he has a family and a child, who continue living in the metal container. After many years of deprivation and hardships, hope finally seems real. I wish my late wife could share the joy of our family,” said Aramayis Yesayan
By the end of the year the hard memories of living in a metal container will remain in the past for 44 families.
