On 23 September, our long-time partners from Knights and Daughters of Vartan visited the Gevorgyan family from Aknashen village of Armavir region.
After marriage, Tovmas and Armine lived in Thomas’ parents’ house for five years. In 2007, Tovmas together with his family had to move to live in a metal container (domik). In 2011, they embarked on their own house construction; little by little added stone on the stone; however, the family could not complete the house construction due to a lack of financial means. The family is engaged in farming and cattle breeding. Tovmas also does seasonal construction work. Their eldest daughter is studying in a medical college; she wants to become a nurse.
”We work diligently, however, hardly could we afford to build the house on our own, or maybe it would take us decades to finish the construction. I still can’t believe this miracle is happening to us. When we received a call from the Fuller Center for Housing Armenia and were told that there are generous donors who will support us in building our dream home, I was speechless for a moment… God bless everyone involved. It’s still impossible to imagine how foreign people who are not your relatives or friends can transform your life. I will always be grateful to them. God bless you and your families,” shared Armine, the mother of the family.
Now the family has a new decent home to live, and their fourth child was born in the new house.
Over 30 families have been supported through the Fuller Center Housing Armenia and Knights and Daughters of Vartan partnership.
