Families from Homenetmen Glendale Ararat Chapter joined Fuller Center for Housing Armenia together with their children to help an Armenian family in housing need to sooner finish the construction of their long-cherished home.
Kristina Tadevosyan lives in Gyumri city of Shirak region. She lives with her mother-in-law and children in a metal container. Her husband’s family has been living in a metal container after the 1988 earthquake. Almost eight years ago, Kristina got married and also moved there. Kristina’s husband has serious health issues. He is abroad for treatment. The metal container where the family lives consists of two small and cold rooms. There aren’t any living conditions there. In 2012, they purchased a piece of land and started building a house. There were able to build only the walls, the roof and installed the windows. The house needs internal works.
The income of the family is the benefit Kristina receives for her children. Kristina’s mother-in-law, Valya is a pensioner. Kristina’s brother-in-law also helps the family.
“Mornings are the worst. It’s so cold in the morning. I try to make warmer in the metal container but it doesn’t help much. My father helps us to do the construction works of our home. I just hope that one day my family would get rid of this metal container and we would live in a decent home,” said Kristina.
It was productive and fun and educative! Just imagine children help children to have a home.
Till the end of the year the family will move to their dream home!
