On July 18-19, the Christian Youth Mission to Armenia (CYMA) group joined Fuller Center for Housing Armenia to help the Hovhannisyan family from Mrgastan village of Armavir region, to help build their dream home.
It has already become a good tradition to join forces with CYMA helping Armenian families in housing need. The volunteer members, led by Der Avedis Abovian, did a fantastic job, making a difference in the lives of the Hovhannisyan family.
Koryun Hovhannisyan lives in Mrgastan village of Armavir region with his wife and children. They have lived in a metal container for 3 years. In 2014, Koryun started building a new house but due to financial difficulties, it remained unfinished. About a year ago Koryun sold the metal container, and the family moved into the semi-constructed building. They live there without simple living facilities. There is no concrete on the floor of the house. The house also needs inside renovation.
The income of the family is Koryun’s salary. The family is also engaged in cattle-breeding and farming.
Koryun and Kristineh have three children, the 11-year-old Alvard, the 8-year-old Gnel, and the 3-year-old Gor. Two of them are schoolchildren.
“I started building our own house but couldn’t afford to finish the construction works. I was able to build the roof of the house and installed old windows and a door so we could live there. We use our half-built bathroom as a kitchen. There are no living conditions here,” said Koryun.
All the family members, especially little Gor, who was trying to help the elders, were so excited and happy!!! Till the end of the year, the family will have a cozy home to live in.
